Hello!

I am a writer and editor, constantly searching for life’s mirror in art; I watch for what future our stories lead us toward, and search for what our stories say about where we come from.

There is always a tale to tell.

Narrative Focus

Character Arcs

In my eyes, a story succeeds on its characters’ development. The story falls flat if we cannot see the humanity within our characters, whatever from or appearance they take, be it human, alien, or otherwise. Every character needs to able to vie for the title of most compelling. The messages and themes of the story ride on the characters sending them.

Setting

Underdeveloped settings can make the story feel as if the characters are operating in a bubble, void of any consequences or life. Overdeveloped stories can drag the focus away from the plot and make the pacing drag. A setting needs to convince the audience that there is a living world out there, but not force them to read chapters of history.

Scene / Thematic Staging

Nothing is more disappointing to a reader than a forgettable scene, a botched moment of tension, or complexity made confusing. If a scene is worth staging, it is worth staging well. A good story needs to build upon itself, not from the ground up each time.
